2007 MUSD Educator Award Winners
Meet the winners of the second annual MUSD employee recognition awards, presented by Camino Federal Credit Union in cooperation with the Montebello Council PTA. The honorees, each of whom received $500, earned their recognition in different ways, but all have one thing in common: they’re dedicated to improving the educational experience for students.
2007 Administrator of the Year Natacha Morales Nutrition Services Operations Manager
Natacha is a creative thinker and problem solver dedicated to the welfare of MUSD students. She gladly takes on the most difficult projects and always finds the best way to complete them. She helps site managers increase productivity and lower costs without compromising the district’s commitment to providing good nutrition. Her passion, enthusiasm and professionalism make her a well-respected part of the MUSD team.
2007 Educator of the Year Jorge Ortiz Physical Education, Rosewood Park School
The best proof of Jorge’s positive impact on his students is that in a time of video games and web-surfing, they enthusiastically look forward to his PE classes. He has organized lunchtime football tournaments, coaches after-school sports, and has established a mentor program in which at-risk students learn self-esteem and confidence. He is resourceful, supportive and inspiring, and is an admired ambassador to the community.
2007 Classified Employee of the Year Estrella Bonilla Attendance Technician, Montebello Intermediate School
For Estrella, attendance is more than taking roll. She gets to know students and their families, and her insight helps teachers come up with a solution if a student is having attendance problems. Outside school, she plays Santa Claus and visits the parents of newborns at Beverly Hospital, works with the California Puerto Rican Association, and has led cultural tours to Puerto Rico. She is tireless, selfless and always supportive of her co-workers.
