We’ve already started the countdown to Christmas. Now it’s time to start your holiday shopping. To help you save some money this holiday season, we wanted to share some ideas to consider.
1. No Last Minute Shopping
There are many reasons why shopping in advance is beneficial. One being that throughout the holidays many stores have a variety of deals for customers to take advantage of. Throughout the month, you can keep an eye on the deals instead of waiting until the last minute. In addition to scoping out the deals, it also allows you to be more selective about what you purchase. You may notice that one item is cheaper at one store compared to another.
2. Use Old Gift Cards
Do you have old gift cards that you received in the past, but never put to use? Now is a great time to use them when making purchases. The gift cards will almost act as a discount when applied to your transaction.
3. Combine Orders
If you decide to shop online, try your best to combine your purchases in order to take advantage of the free shipping. Many stores offer free shipping when you spend a certain amount of money. However, make sure you don’t just purchase random items just to get the free shipping because it defeats the purpose. Consider whether you can also shop for another one of your family members from the same store before checking out.
4. Encourage a Christmas Gift Exchange
This holiday season it may be a good idea to suggest a gift exchange. Not only does it allow everyone to get a gift this Christmas, but it also saves you lots of money and time because you only need to purchase a gift for one person compared to a whole list of people.
5. Make Your Own Gifts
You know what they say, “it’s the thought that counts” and that applies to holiday gifts as well. This year show how much you care with a homemade gift. By making your own gift, it’s not only more thoughtful, but it could help you save significantly.
