THE LAST SPOOKSTORE: LOST SOULS COSTUME BALL

Gather at the largest new and used bookstore in California on October 21st to celebrate the ghosts and ghouls that live within the pages of your favorite scary stories. The costume party will feature live music from Vum, Traps PS and Iva Dawn. There is no charge but donations are highly encouraged! All donations will go to the Downtown Women’s Center, so reach into those pockets and be generous!

Dia de Los Muertos at Hollywood Forever Cemetery

This Halloween, the Hollywood Forever Cemetery is celebrating its 18th Dia de Los Muertos. The celebration honors and salutes artist, Jose Guadalupe Posada for his iconic pieces that have inspired and represented Mexican culture for over a century. The event will run from noon to midnight on October 27th and costumes are highly encouraged! There will be live music and of course, delicious Mexican food for purchase.

Rooftop Cinema

The Rooftop Cinema Club is showing iconic movies this Halloween. Films that include classics like Nightmare on Elm Street and Poltergeist, all the way to current films like Jordan Peele’s directorial debut, Get Out.

With two locations, you can choose your view of either downtown LA or Hollywood. The outdoor cinema idea is all about experiencing film out in the real world, combining imagination with your real surroundings. The best part, you get wireless headphones to listen to the film. So, when your date screams at the obvious parts, you’ll be none the wiser.

Los Angeles Hay Ride

If you aren’t afraid of the dark (or terrifying clowns) then this is the hayride for you! Maybe you are afraid and this is the year you’ll face that red nose and orange hair with your head high.

Whatever your fear, the LA Hay Ride is sure to creep you out just a little. Located in the old zoo at Griffith Park, this experience is said to be set up like a whole different world. That’s no surprise with 150 professional actors and a whole production company behind it. This is one that changes each year, so put your big-boy pants on and don’t miss it!

La Belle et La Bete

For those who love theatre, live opera, and putting together very impressive costumes, this part film, part opera, part costume party is for you. Philip Glass creates an enchanting opera from the classic film, La Belle et La Bete and the opera comes to life during the film screening. After being completely mesmerized by the performance art in front of you, The Theatre at Ace Hotel hosts a costume party and of course, costume contest. Get your tickets before they sell out!
