Camino Benefits: How a Local Credit Union Gives Back to Its Community

As a local credit union, Camino Federal Credit Union cherishes the opportunity to be involved in the community and make it stronger. Our members know that the institution they chose to partner and bank with is giving back to the community. When individuals and families are thriving and doing well, we know we are making a difference for everyone. We hold events throughout the year to support this mission.

At Camino, we have been serving the Montebello community since 1941 with local guidance and financial products tailored to members’ situations and goals. Learn how Camino gives back with different initiatives in our blog.

How a Local Credit Union Gives Back to Its Community

We hold several events every year to support both members and non-members. Three of our most important initiatives are our blood drive, Shred Day, and workshops. Let’s get into what each of these entails!

Blood Drive

One impactful way that we give back to the community is by holding a semi-annual blood drive. Twice a year, the blood drive is open to our members, staff, and the Montebello community members, so anyone can join.

“The goal for every blood drive is to get at least 18 units, so that’s 18 donors. And a couple of times when we held the blood drive, we surpassed that goal. It feels really nice to give back to the community.”

Document Shredding

Another benefit you can enjoy as a member is our annual Shred Day event. During this event, a shredding company brings out a truck and members come and drop off sensitive documents they need to dispose of safely.

We have the same shred company we use to shred sensitive documents at Camino, so you can rest assured they are trustworthy and secure.

“It’s nice to see our community come together and our members tell us how much they appreciate the event. Shredding your documents can help with preventing identity theft, and it provides security. That’s an important component of financial wellness we like to emphasize and support our members with.”

Financial Workshops & Education

We host monthly workshops for members, with topics that include banking basics, home equity, and fraud and scam awareness and prevention.

We understand that by helping you gain a greater sense of financial knowledge, we help our community as a whole. We work with institutions to make sure we promote awareness and provide education that caters to your specific needs.

You can sign up for our monthly workshops by going to our website or stopping by the branch and speaking to a staff member.
