Mother's Day Ideas | Camino Federal Credit Union | Three Dimensional Text That Says Mom with Fresh Carnation Flowers Standing on the Wooden Table with Light Green Background

Our Mothers and the Mother’s to our children are the most important people in our lives. Let’s face it; without them, we would not be here. They deserve to feel loved and appreciated every day, but for one day a year it is solely their day. Every year we should try our hardest to outdo the previous year’s celebration of the most wonderful women in our lives. So, let’s make this year’s celebration the best yet!

In our beautiful multi-cultural City of Los Angeles, there are so many ways we can accomplish this without breaking the bank.

Create Some Lasting Memories

Life is short, so we should cherish every moment we have with our mothers. Let’s create some good memories with them and document those moments with some pictures.

Los Angles has one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. There are other places further inland that provide a beautiful landscape for lasting memories as well such as Runyon Canyon and the Santa Clarita Valley

A great spot on the coast is El Matador Beach. It is a beautiful landscape with some of the coolest looking rock formations. During low tide times there are captivating caves that you can walk into. The whole coast is gorgeous, so it won’t be difficult to create a picture perfect moment for your Mom to cherish for the rest of her life. Parking is a little limited in the parking lot, but you can usually find a place to park your car along the street. Don’t forget your camera.

Pack a Picnic Lunch

Someone once said that the quickest route to someone’s heart is through his or her stomach. Let’s show Mom we love her by totally customizing a lunch that you know she will love and then enjoy it someplace beautiful. Not only does Los Angeles have a gorgeous coastline, it also has some beautiful parks.

Griffith Park, especially the Bronson Caves side is a unique and invigorating landscape where many movies have also been filmed. Accessing the park requires a little bit of walking, but the sites and sounds are totally worth it. We recommend doing a little bit of research to find your perfect picnic spot. Make sure you provide an easy means of transporting your lunch with you.

Set Her Free

Motherhood can be quite chaotic at times. She is super human, but even a super Mom needs a chance to reboot and feel like a normal person. This much chaos calls for some seriously therapeutic away from home time. Set up a date with her girlfriends so she can get away for a while if not the whole day. There are many things they could do or have been wanting to do together. One recommendation is Smorgasburg.

Smorgasburg

785 Bay St.

Los Angeles, CA 90021

Parking: Free for 2 hours in parking garage

Hours: 10am – 4pm

Yes, the name sounds silly, but it is fitting. Smorgasburg is one of the biggest and coolest open-air markets you’ll ever find. It already happens on Sundays and there is really something for just about everyone. There are so many great vendors there that finding some food and getting some retail therapy not be a problem. Throw her girlfriends into the mix and give her a chance to vent about her chaotic life. There will be locally crafted beers, the best in local DJ’s and a ton of hip vendors there.

Take Her To A Movie

(Chick Flicks Included)

Ahem…we mean romantic comedies! We all know Mom doesn’t typically get to watch what she wants to watch when you throw some kids and an action loving husband into the mix. This day is HER day. Go watch what SHE wants to watch. Being so close to Hollywood, there are many theaters to take her to. Beforehand, do a little probing to see what she might want to see. Randomly play a trailer here and there to see if she hints at wanting to see it or you can just ask.

Role Reversal Time

She does so much for us. Show her that she deserves the same love that she gives you day in and day out. This can be as easy as staying at home and taking care of EVERYTHING. Let her be. Let her do her thing. She doesn’t get much of a chance to unwind the way she wants to because she sacrifices so much to make our lives that much better. Clean the house from top to bottom while she reads a book or binge watches a TV show she’s wanted to see. Make her breakfast, lunch AND dinner… and then clean up the mess. Plant her a garden and then continue to show it love after Mother’s Day to show her you love her more than just one day a year. Give her a massage. Pamper her and alleviate all that stress that she deals with day in and day out.

No matter what you choose to do this year to show her that she means everything to you, she will appreciate the effort. The more you put into it, the more she will get out of it. Be creative. She will love every bit of it.
