Small Business Saturday: Where to Support Local in LA

Small Business Saturday is a phenomenon we can get behind.  Unlike its predecessor Black Friday, this day is dedicated exclusively to supporting local businesses. As a local business, we believe in supporting our neighbors in business.

We’ve dug deep to find you Los Angeles’ best places to shop local this Small Business Saturday.  We are proud to be a local credit union here in LA and we encourage you to visit your favorite local businesses year round!

Arts District DTLA

Living a Dream Boutique is celebrating Small Business Saturday in the DTLA Arts District by offering exclusive discounts and an extra 10% for those who RSVP for the event.  While you’re perusing the Arts District shops, stop at Hennessy + Ingals.  This mega bookstore set up shop in the Arts District in February 2016 after 20+ years on Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade.  Make sure to pick up your caffeine at Groundwork Coffee Co to fuel your shopping day.

Santa Monica Downtown & Third Street Promenade

Spend your Small Business Saturday in Santa Monica to experience local boutiques and restaurants with locally sourced ingredients.  See the shop local Santa Monica website to see a list of local shops. This strip of Santa Monica offers live music, street art, and incredible local eats.  It doesn’t get more local than Third Street Promenade’s live street entertainment.  Treat your ears to the street performances that fill the street with music.  When you get hungry, stop by Cafe Crepe.  Your taste buds will thank you.

Lake Boutique

This Silver Lake gem is named after its chic neighborhood and is an open-air and open floor studio-style boutique.  Lake is brimming with classic styles and small goods for the home that are full of character.  This LA local shop is dedicated to independent designers that all share that casual but elegant style.  Shop here and support this local LA business if you’re looking for gifts for the ladies in your life. LA local, Melissa Lovoy brings her design background from Parsons School of Design to create a charming and classic feel to the store.

Golden Road Brewing

All of this local shopping is sure to result in a hankering for a local brew.  Golden Road Brewing opened their doors in 2011 and have since expanded to three Southern California locations including DTLA and Anaheim.  The DTLA location is inside of Grand Central Market and offers some incredibly tasty food along with their taps.  A full day of shopping might just call for a mac and cheese bread bowl, just saying.
