Staying at home calls for more time binge watching your favorite or new shows that you have been wanting to watch. To help you save during this time, it is important to be strategic. We share five ways to help you save on your streaming services.
1. Take Advantage of Free Trials
If you haven’t already done so, take advantage of the free trials that the streaming services have to offer. Not only is it a great way to see what types of shows are available on there, but it also lets you navigate how to use the service and whether or not you like it enough to pay for the full subscription.
2. Consider Cancelling Subscriptions
Although many shows are getting taken off of Netflix, it does not mean you need to have every streaming service. Sit down and think about which shows you are actually watching at this time and cancel the streaming services you are not currently using. It is very easy to cancel subscriptions anytime.
3. Split a Family Plan
Many streaming services like Netflix offer a family plan to allow you to pay a set rate for multiple people to use at one time. Consider setting up one of these plans. Another way to make the cost cheaper is by splitting the costs with other family members or friends that may be interested in getting the service, but also do not want to bear the price on their own.
4. See If You Qualify For Discounts
Some streaming services will give discounts for students and other groups if you qualify.
Check out the specific streaming service to find out whether they honor these discounts and which ones.
5. Plan Your Binges
What shows are you watching right now? If you are watching a show such as How I Met Your Mother, you might want to keep Hulu and ditch the other streaming services. However, if you are on a Game of Thrones binge then you will need to keep HBO. It is easy to cancel the streaming services you aren’t using and when you need them again you can re-subscribe. Be strategic in your subscriptions.
