It’s that special time of year when around the world people are putting up lights, stockings, and maybe even a few responsibly-harvested trees. Just because it won’t be a white and snowy winter wonderland here in Los Angeles, does not mean that we don’t know how to celebrate this magical time of year. So, put on your Christmas sweaters, get that eggnog recipe out and let’s celebrate the season, LA-style. Here are four local events in LA to celebrate the holidays!
LA Outdoor Ice Skating
Los Angeles and Santa Monica both get into the ice skating spirit with outdoor skating rinks during the holiday season. Even though our lovely LA weather rarely dips below sixty degrees, we’ve been blessed with innovative technology that allows for ice!
Come see for yourself. Visit ICE at Santa Monica on the corner of fifth and Arizona for a little trip to the icy north pole. If you want to stay in LA, visit the Holiday Ice Rink right in DTLA. This holiday our lovely city will transform into a pseudo-winter wonderland! This rink hosts special holiday events like DJ’s, silent discos, and even curling lessons.
Hollywood Christmas Parade
We are incredibly fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful and temperate cities in the US. LA is not only beautiful, the city loves the holidays. One of our favorite holiday events is the Hollywood Christmas Parade. This year will mark the 86th annual parade and it’s going to be wintery and wonderful. Complete with a Santa Claus, the parade starts at 5 pm on November 26th and runs from Hollywood Blvd, Vine, and Sunset. Get there early and reserve your spot! You don’t want to miss Santa.
L.A. County Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
Gather with your LA neighbors in Grand Park for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. The decorations and lights will stay up in the park until December 26th but you don’t want to miss the kickoff! There will be vendors, local artists and live music. Not to mention the 45-foot tree. Visit their website to see more detail, no tickets required!
Los Angeles Holiday Market
Come rub elbows with some of LA’s most incredible local artists and designers at the Unique Holiday Market. This is the biggest pop-up market in the country and they are coming to Los Angeles! The market supports local vendors and offers incredible and, of course, unique items. This is one that should not be missed this holiday season. Find all kinds of fun gifts for family and friends or yourself, you deserve a treat.
