Wondering where you and your family can unwind and have fun this weekend in Los Angeles, without breaking the bank? In one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country, options could be overwhelming to think about when you’re just trying to turn off for a couple of days.

Contemplate no more! We have curated three inexpensive weekend activities to do in Los Angeles.

Be Amazed at the California Science Center

This center has been around since 1999 with the mission of providing “science learning for everyone!” Located in the famous Exposition Park, next to the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and USC, the center is open from 10:00am-5:00pm daily. Exhibits often change, so even if you go one weekend, visit the website and see what special exhibitions you can catch next time. And don’t miss the Space Shuttle Endeavor, which was moved to the center in 2011. At 78 feet wide, 57 feet high and 122 feet long—you will surely be able to spot it.

Soak In Some Vitamin D at Santa Monica Pier

This landmark of California beach life is a great place to bring the entire family on a sunny weekend. The pier is full of activity, from local musicians and artists to carnival rides and delicious food. The pier also operates a special events calendar with information so you can plan your visit ahead to catch a new exhibit, take a yoga class or watch a movie under the stars as you listen to the waves and feel the ocean breeze.

Get Active in Runyon Canyon

Famous for its views of the Los Angeles basin and celebrities, Runyon Canyon gets you outside and moving free of charge. It’s in the heart of Hollywood and accessible from on the south side at Fuller Avenue and Vista Street, and on the north side at Mulholland Drive and Runyon Canyon Road. Parking is limited in residential areas, but you can take a short walk from city streets and access the trails. Have a dog? They are also welcome to join the fun!

Happy weekend!
