why fall in LA is better than summer, fall things to do in LA, Credit Union Los AngelesEveryone knows that summer in LA is unbeatable – warm weather, sunny beaches, warm ocean water and tons of outdoor activities for everyone.  It really is one of the best places in the world to be.  Because of that, people from all over the world travel to visit LA during the Summer.  Unfortunately, that means crowded beaches and even more traffic.

Fortunately, as Summer turns to Fall, the tourists thin out and we get our city back. But you know what the best part about that is?  Fall is an amazing time of year in LA – warm weather, sunny beaches, warm water and tons of outdoor activities for everyone! 🙂

It really is just as good (or better) this time of year.  The weather is still just as nice, the ocean water is just as warm (or warmer), and there is a whole host of things to do.

With that said, don’t just be sad that summer is over.  Get out and enjoy some of the many amazing things LA has to offer.  Here are some ideas to get you started.

Have a Beach Day

Most of us don’t visit the beach as much as we would like.  But this time of year is perfect for a beach day.  Visiting a popular spot like Santa Monica, Malibu or Manhattan Beach can be fun because it won’t be the normal mass of humanity it normally is during the summer months.  Additionally, the weather is still great to lay out on the beach or get in the ocean.

Take a Hike

Getting a little exercise and enjoying the beautiful weather we have can make a great day even better.  It can also help you get out of the city and take in some natural beauty.  There are a lot of great trails in and around Griffith Park, and this time of year you are bound to have a little more of the trail to yourself.  If it’s a waterfall you are looking for, try Eaton Canyon Natural Area to see a 40-foot waterfall, located just north of Pasadena.

Be a Tourist for a Day

Chances are, you haven’t visited every part of Los Angeles, so why not take a day to explore a new part of the city?  LA is home to some of the best attractions in the world, but has a thriving local scene as well.  Just taking a day to go to a new part of the city and exploring the shops, restaurants and art can feel like a vacation without the expense and hassle of traveling.

While you might not get to enjoy every nice day we have, take this great opportunity to make it count while you can.  Instead of waiting for the weather to turn cooler and the days to get shorter, get out there and enjoy this great time of year while it lasts!
